This is an original vintage poster from 1955 from the heyday of the Polish poster school. We confirm its authenticity with a certificate
A rare poster by Olga Siemaszkowa, known primarily for illustrating fairy tales for children. The poster was created on the occasion of a cyclical festival, intended as a symbol of the superiority of socialism over capitalism. The festival was held every 2 years. The first edition took place in 1947 in Prague. Subsequent editions were held in Budapest, Berlin and Bucharest, and the 5th edition was organized in Warsaw. The festival was accompanied by celebrations to mark the opening of the Joseph Stalin Palace of Culture and Science and the Dziesieciolecia Stadium. The entire city at the time was decorated by some of Poland’s most outstanding graphic artists and poster designers. The spectacular 400-meter-long monumental decoration was created by Wojciech Fangor together with Henryk Tomaszewski. The decoration on the so-called eastern wall of Marszalkowska Street stretched from Swietokrzyska Street to Jerozolimskie Avenue. The poster is one of great rarity.
Condition: good (Old folding marks, minor underpainting and retouching)
