Jonas Kuzminskis – lived from 1906 to 1985. He was an outstanding Lithuanian woodcutter. From 1927 to 1933 he studied at the Kaunas School of Fine Arts. From 1944 he joined the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts, and from 19541 he joined the Vilnius Art Institute. In 1948-68 he lectured at the Lithuanian Institute of Art, and from 1957 he was head of the Graphic Arts Department. From the end of the 1950s to 1982, he was chairman of the Council of the Association of Artists of the LSSR. From 1975 he was a member of the USSR Academy of Arts. He specialized in 2 techniques: linocut and woodcut. He designed ephemeral prints, created drawings, made exlibrises and illustrated books. He devoted a large part of his work to his hometown, Vilnius. He created many architectural landscapes of Vilnius, some of which were later published in the album “Jonas Kuzminskis. Graviuros” in 1956. He also took up portrait and folk themes.
